Please refer to the below as a guide for your submission.
VIDEO RECORDING OF COACHING SESSION:
Submit a video recording of a conflict coaching session using the REAL Conflict Coaching System. Requirements:
Session should be at least 60 minutes long and
no longer than 90 minutes;
Session should be an actual coaching session
(not an intake session);
Session should be with someone (the person does not have to be a fee-paying client) about a real conflict they are experiencing;
The coaching session must be live and unscripted,
and the video unedited;
The video must show both the coach’s and the client’s face and both voices should be clearly audible (however the session need not be professionally filmed – an iphone/ipad will usually suffice);
The coach should demonstrate ability to conduct each stage of the REAL Conflict Coaching System. If time does not permit each stage to be completed in detail,
it is acceptable for the coach to say to camera “for the purpose of the recording I will now move to the next stage, even though ideally I would do more in this stage” or words to this effect;
The person being coached must sign a consent form
for the session to be recorded and submitted for accreditation assessment.
The video can be submitted by uploading to an online file sharing service, or sent on USB or disk (please contact us for address details if you wish to post a
USB or disk).
WRITTEN REFLECTION ON COACHING SESSION:
The video recording must be accompanied by a reflective piece of writing that addresses the following five questions. Your answer to each question should be about 1-2 pages of typed text.
In what ways does this coaching session demonstrate that you have supported the client to develop the 5C’s (clarity, comprehension, choices, competence and confidence)? Please give specific examples from your session to support your answer.
In this coaching session, which stage of the REAL Conflict Coaching system do you think you managed well, and which stage do you think was the one with the most room for improvement. Please give specific examples from your session to support your answer.
Please identify two interventions (a question, silence or other response to the client) during this coaching session: one that you see as successful (i.e. it achieved the purpose that you intended when making the intervention) and another for which the client’s response was not what you intended. Please explain what you think happened in relation to each of these interventions.
What aspect of conflict coaching do you think you are most competent and confident, and why do you think this is so? Please use examples from this coaching session to support your answer.
What aspect of conflict coaching do you think you have most room for improvement, and how do you plan to develop your skills in this area? Please use examples from this coaching session to support your answer.
